Restoring citizens to the forefront of democratic decision making

Auteur Marcel Grignard Chairman Confrontations Europe The Conference of the Future of Europe, which has been announced by the President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and which is organised by the Commission, the Council and the Parliament, will start in 2020 and run for two years. Its aim is to involve a representative sample of the civil society and to allow citizens to reform the EU.  Such an approach cannot avoid an analysis of the deep crisis faced by the representative democracies in Europe and  the reasons of the gap (even the distrust) between the citizens and the European institutions.
