Patrick Starkman is the newly appointed Director General of Confrontations Europe.

Patrick has divided his career between Paris and Brussels, where he has worked as representative of the European Savings and Retail Banking Group for the European institutions, an expert seconded by France to the Secretariat of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, manager of institutional relations for the European Securities and Markets Authority, and partner in a law firm specialised in public affairs. Patrick possesses expertise in banking, financial markets, insurance, transport, energy, the digital economy and health.

He will be taking on his new responsibilities in a crucial and busy period for Europe, marked for example by the establishment of a new commission in an uncertain and unstable European context, and the challenge of developing a European policy capable of addressing the global economic downswing while meeting social cohesion and environmental requirements.

Confrontations Europe will be taking this opportunity to enter a new phase in its development, while continuing its work with economic, social and regional stakeholders in an open and constructive relationship with European institutions. Our already packed work agenda includes the “Towards European capitalism” conference, scheduled for the end of 2019 and aimed at establishing guidelines for the new European mandate which will be met by a hostile environment.
